WHAT IS A PIKA?
Pikas are small relatives of the rabbit who live in rock piles. They gather grasses and forbs in the summer and dry these plants in the sun. During the winter, they don't hibernate, and instead survive on the vegetation they've collected. Thick snowpack insulates their homes.

Pikas are wonderfully vocal and make a variety of charming sounds. Pikas in the Sierra Nevada mountains sound different than pikas in the Canadian Rockies. They have different dialects!
Pikas are disappearing across the Sierra Nevada and Great Basin. Why is this happening?
Follow these easy steps to live a greener life and help pikas and the climate!
